I don't mean to scare you but....

The Koreans are Coming

I really don't want to scare you....No that is not true.... I really do want to scare you....because you need to pay attention to this.

The Korean mob is targeting your computer this fall with a Trojan blitz.

"The Korean mob alone (not to mention the Russian and other mobs) haveĀ  plans fpr a new Trojan every 1/2 hour," said David Perry of Trend Micro during an interview on Computer America 8/4/08, "and they have already contracted with an Indian programming company to produce them" (click here to download the audio of that show)

Are you ready?

Make sure your protection - virus scanners, spyware stoppers- everything - is up-to-date and run scans regularly. For my clients that most likley includes some or all of the following:

  • Avast Antivirus
  • Spybot Search and Destroy
  • Spywareblaster
  • Superantispyware
  • Threatfire

And, for the love of Mike, if you are still using Internet Explorer 6 or Safari, upgrade to Internet Explorer 7 or Firefox 3.

As always, if you need help, call.

  2. Thanks for the heads up on this. I sent it to all members on staff here who have home computers as well as friends near and far. One from Dallas told me he downloaded one of the antispyware programs you recommended and he likes it. We may do the same shortly, though we do have adaware 2008, spybot and spywareblaster on all of our machines.

  4. Ed,

Could you provide a link to this interview? I went to the Computer America website and looked through the archives, but there were no archives for August 2008. In fact, there were no archives after March, 2008.

Further, I went to the Trend Micro website and did searches on "Korean Mob" or even just "Korean" but I did not find anything like what you describe here.

Could you please provide some documentation as to where I could confirm this story?
