Sure, what is the catch?
It is true. It happens almost every day. Well, at least a couple of times a week. One of my regular clients will call with a problem or question. We connect, investigate and solve it in 15 minutes or less. Total charge, eleven dollars and twenty-five cents, plus tax of course.
But, you are right, there is a catch. More precisely a trick, or should I say several tricks but only three, and they are all easy ones.
First, the callers all have working high-speed Internet connections. If they aren’t able to connect to the Internet or only have dial-up connections all bets are off. Remote service is not possible without a working Internet connection and is next to impossible with a dial-up.
Second, they are one of my “regular” clients. So, their computer is probably in pretty good shape to begin with.
Third, and this is very important, they have called at the first sign of trouble. Because they have, we can often “catch ‘em early and fix ’em quick.”
